There are a myriad of myths that surround entrepreneurship and the world of working women. This morning, I am attending a dialogue session in which we have been reviewing the research that has emerged through the work done by First National Bank and Wits Business School in the last few weeks. Here is a list of myths, tell me what you think.
Myth 1: Women only start businesses because they have to. Myth 2: Women have poor self efficacy Myth 3: Women do not see the right opportunities Myth 4: Boostrap their start-ups Myth 5: Start 'hobby' businesses Myth 6: Start Businesses that do not last Myth 7: Are not well networked Myth 8: Do not make effective use of services Myth 9: Don't want to grow their business Myth 10: Don't innovate Myth 11: Do not benefit from policy aimed at support Myth 12: Women entrepreneurs are not supported by SA culture
