Tips designed to help Entrepreneurs and SMMEs “polish” their “pitch”.

1.    Dress appropriately.

2.    Always arrive early.

3.    Deliver the “aha” or “blue heart” moment early in the pitch.

4.    Display how the product or service solves a problem.

5.    Highlight features and benefits of product / service.

6.    Present and speak through your slides instead of reading them.

7.    Use a maximum of 15 slides (eight is ideal).

8.    Where relevant, use visuals instead of words.

9.    Always have a copy of your presentation on a spare memory stick.

10.  Your ending needs to have the 3Cs – concise, convincing and concrete.

11.  Ensure facts are accurate and consistent.

12.  Know your numbers, facts and figures.

13.  Be prepared to answer questions genuinely.

14.  Keep the technical terminology to a minimum.

15.  Highlight existing customers (where possible).

16.  When asked a question – listen, pause and answer.

17.  Avoid using the phrase “I think”.

18.  Make eye contact with everyone.

19.  Show your passion.

20.  Be yourself!
