World Cup Postmortem and Mandela Day Wishes PDF Print E-mail

Dear Reader

It is finished. South Africa has proven herself equal to the challenge once again, and I don’t know about you – but I am personally delighted with the way we handled things during the World Cup. I know that I am a "glass is half full" kind of person and that many out there may see a variety of ways in which we could’ve/should’ve done better – my response to that is ‘Get over it!'

I had the privilege of attending three games during the FIFA World Cup and the good nature, humour and all round fun that was shown reminded me of the camaraderie and unity we felt post-1994 and of course during the Rugby World Cup. I gotta say it, I love our people and this nation!

In the midst of this, I cannot help but think about Sunday – it is Mandela Day. It is a fabulous opportunity for every South African to do something, no matter how small or big - each action has an effect. I really want to hear what you have planned – please drop me a line and let me know what you are up to or visit our facebook fan page and add your Mandela Day activity there.

A special bonus – Penguin Books has provided two fantastic hampers for the first two readers who share their Mandela Day story with us. The hampers include copies of Long Walk To Freedom, The Illustrated Long Walk to Freedom, In the Words of Nelson Mandela, In the Words of Nelson Mandela – A Little Pocketbook and A Prisoner in the Garden. Awesome stuff. So please email me your story and get a little in return – This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Well, that's all folks – have a great weekend and be generous.

Regards

Rachel
