Dear Reader
May approaches and with it a number of special days - primarily my birthday (haha) and of course - more importantly - Mother's Day. We can in no way undermine the role of mothers in our community. The temptation to write a superfluous note about mothers is there, but I would prefer to look at the moms I see in action every day and celebrate their lives. I have the privilege of working with many woman entrepreneurs who are both excellent business women while still being present and engaged mothers and wives. I am constantly amazed at their ability to balance the demands of family while sustaining profitable businesses. I enjoy the way they have found fulfillment both at home and at work. This is in no way an attempt to pretend that everything is smooth sailing. There are many tough conversations that they have to have with their family members and clients. They often have to weigh up options and determine which trade-offs they need to or are willing to make. Not simple, for sure, but they are giving it everything that they have. Ladies - I commend you. I cannot, however, overlook those ladies I know who have elected to stay home with their children. This decision has not always been an easy one and I know there are times when they wonder if they have made the right decision, and sometimes feel guilty that they are not contributing to the financial prosperity of the family. Yet as I watch them with their children and view the extracurricular projects they pick up on, I am inspired and awed at their energy and desire to make a difference. There are some fabulous articles this week: be sure to view the Top Gifts to buy your Mom and others.
With Love,
Rachel
