What's the Lesson? PDF Print E-mail

Hi Everyone,

As I consider the last week, I find myself asking the question: "What can I learn from this?"

It has been a very full week. It started with some anxiety about the amount of work that needed to be done and the time in which I had to do it in.

On Sunday night, a particular word kept playing out in my mind - surrender. At first, I didn't like it! But as I reflected on it, my learning was that I needed to make peace with the idea that I would be able to achieve a certain amount and that is it! Essentially, I needed to realise that I can't control everything and the best I could do would have to be enough.

The second lesson came on Monday. I had planned to deliver a workshop at a conference on Tuesday. I would be attending the conference for two days. You can imagine that in a busy week - I had to ask if it was the best use of my time. A good surprise lay in the realisation that the conference was actually scheduled for March (not February) and voila out of nowhere I had 16 extra hours.

The third lesson came at a book launch I attended. Donna Rachelson launched her first book, "Branding & Marketing You". I have only known Donna for a few months, but it has been exciting to watch a dream materialise into reality. She has had a formidable team supporting her in this process and relentlessly pursued her goal. I took away two lessons; firstly, I need to keep partnering up to ensure that I have the best team to deliver to my objectives and secondly, I need to relentlessly pursue my goals. It takes hard work, but the joy and fulfillment at the end of the process is worth it - you could clearly see it all over Donna's face.

Well that's all for now, my questions are "what lessons have you learnt this week?" and "what impact will they have as you move forward?"

Ciao

Rachel
