Living In The Now

We are often very scared of the concept of death, particularly if we do not have a strong faith or belief in our spiritual aspect of self. We fear the unknown and yet every single day we face on Earth is full of unknowns and challenges that we are being asked to rise above.

We can actually re-create the cycle of life and death with every single breath we take: as we breathe in, this is the life affirming breath, and as we breathe out, this is the letting go, or dying breath.

I find it very useful to look at death as the time that we simply review our life. But we can use this concept whilst we are still living to our benefit. So the questions you can ask yourself on a more regular basis are: “Have I lived my life well? Did I accomplish all that I was destined to do, and most importantly did I have fun whilst doing it?” if you are answering “no” at any given time, well then - what are you going to do about it?

We take life far too seriously and then get caught up in what is essentially a game. We create everything around us through our intention and attention. If you really want to get ahead in life so that you can die in peace, you can live it in a simple way with the following theme: “Am I ready to die today?”

This does not mean that you are willing yourself to die, but it does means that you will live your life more up to date, more simply and have more time and energy to spend on things as they come up in each moment. Being ever mindful of the fact that we all die eventually can give you enhanced mindfulness in living each precious moment fully. What is the point of waiting till tomorrow to do something? What if you are not around? So this is a call to complete unfinished business in your life, and to tell those around you often that you love and cherish them. Do not leave it until it’s too late. Get joy out of being alive and sque-e-e-ze it for all it’s worth.

Regardless of your spiritual beliefs, the truth is that you only have this particular life once. Live it to the best of your capabilities and strengths. Live it now.
